R.B.A. ( 1841 - 1895) A large signed oil by Edwin Ellis R.B.A. the well listed British seascape and coastal painter. This work was probably painted in the North East of England around the Staithes / Cullercoats region where he liked to paint. Its a large work in its original frame and fully signed. Following a brief period working in a lace factory, Ellis studied art under Henry Dawson. He went on to paint mainly coastal views of Yorkshire, Wales and Cornwall, works notable for their broad facture and rich colouring, and comparable to the work of Charles Napier Hemy.
