7071 Control Box(also known as 475/6) NEW Condition with Original Box (OBX) This all metal control box was discontinued in year 1961; in 1962 this controller box was replaced with plastic box 7211 . Below is a description on how to use the 7211. Even though they have different numbers, their operation is the same. The metal 7071 is a better unit; the later plastic boxes tended to warp. The text below describes the three "Blue Control Boxes" that Marklin used during the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. 7072 Control Box “double solenoid controller” With 8 sockets for connecting 4 double solenoid accessories. The position of buttons indicate the setting for the signal, turnout, etc. This blue control box has 4 circuits. Each of the four circuits: · Has red button for stop or curve (momentary contact) · Has green button for go or straight (momentary contact) · Can serve a double solenoid device (such as a signal or turnout) · Has a red and a green socket on rear for connection to the blue wires of the double solenoid device The control box also side mounted plug and socket for connection to ground (brown port of the transformer) From an electrical engineering viewpoint, this control box is 4 single pole double throw (SPDT) momentary switches that share a common ground. 7210 Control Box “circuit divide controller” For dividing a track or accessory circuit into 4 different circuits by means of buttons. This blue control box has 4 circuits. Each of the four circuits: · Has red button for “ON” (circuit closed) · Has yellow button for “OFF” (circuit open) · Can control track power (red port on transformer) to an isolated track block in a yard or station, or · Can control accessory power (yellow port on transformer) to a lamp(s) in buildings or station or park (etc.) · Has a socket on rear for connection to track or accessory being controlled The control box also has side mounted plug and socket for connection to the track power (red port of transformer) being divided or to the accessory power (yellow port of transformer) being divided. All 4 circuits share a common input. From an electrical engineering viewpoint, this control box is 4 single pole single throw (SPST) switches that share a common input. 7211 Control Box “individual circuit controller” For controlling 4 different track or accessory circuits by means of buttons. This blue control box has 4 circuits. Each of the four circuits: · Has yellow button for “ON” (circuit closed) · Has green button for “OFF” (circuit open) · Can control track power (red port on transformer) to an isolated track block in a yard or station, or · Can control accessory power (yellow port on transformer) to a lamp(s) in buildings or station or park (etc.) · Has a socket and a plug on rear for connection to power input and power output to track or accessory being controlled The control box has no side mounted connectors.
