Bast or Bastet, the cat goddess, was one of the oldest gods of the Egyptian pantheon, having been worshipped since at least the second dynasty. Her cult was centred at the town of Bubastis or Per-Bast in Egyptian, which was named after her and where she was the local deity. *** This gorgeous pin back brooch is cast from fine pewter and then enrobed in pure 22 kt gold and features the image of Bastet.
