Celebrate 125 years of one of the seven wonders of the Modern World. With over 7 million visitors each year, the Eiffel Tower is the most visited monument in the world. Built for the Universal Exhibition in 1899 by engineer Gustave Eiffel, this 324 meter (1,063 ft) tall symbol of Paris celebrates her 125th anniversary in 2014. The obverse shows the outline of the Eiffel Tower with a mirror-polish effect, which shines and divides the design into three separate areas. The letters RF look as if they are riveted to the ‘Iron Lady’. On the reverse the UNESCO logo, the face value, the year date and the mint marks are found to the left, with the name of the issue ‘Rives de Seine’ (Banks of the Seine). To the right is an aerial view of the location of the two monuments as well as their names “Tour Eiffel—Palais de Chaillot”. Mintage of just 5,000 coins! On the obverse of this .900 silver proof coin is the Eiffel Tower with a shiny effect in the foreground. The background highlights the monument's metal architecture. Between the legs of the Tower, the massive windows of the Palais de Chaillot can be seen. The reverse is separated into two parts.
