But bike frames/forks were not designed for this. The frame may eventually wear out and the axle will spin freely causing damage to the motor wiring. This is especially true if you "mod" your system for more power.The solution is a "torque arm" that mounts securely around the flatted axle and attaches to the frame away from the center of the axle, giving it the torque needed to hold the motor axle securely. The strongest installations use one on each side.These beefy arms are cut from 3 mm thick stainless steel. These fit most electric hub motor axles out t In particular the 12mm fits Crystalyte 4 series motors and the 14 mm fits Crystalyte 5 series motors and BMC hub motors. These fit very snug, which is ideal, and due to varying tolerances some filing may be necessary to install on the axle. Additional hardware will be needed to secure the other end of the torque arm, such as a pipe clamp, u-bolt etc., which vary with the installation and are not provided.
