Here is a charming Dutch style wall clock with German bell strike movement by FHS. The clock has brass figure of Atlas stood upon a large brass bell and with a globe on his shoulders, at the top of the case. There are brass decorative pediments to 3 sides which also show 3 brass Dutch figures at front and at each side is a coat of arms with lion figures. The clock dial has silver chapter with Roman numerals and brass hands. There are decorative corner spandrels and barley twist pillars to each side of the dial. Beneath the movement housing is further brass detailing and the swinging pendulum. This has a 'sun-shaped' brass bob. This is most likely not the original pendulum, as most of these clocks had a little horse & rider, but the pendulum is doing it's job and clock is working correctly. The movement strikes on the bell, once at each half hour and on each hour, it strikes according to the time. The clock movement is wound by pulling up the weights on their chains. There are two large, heavy brass pear-shaped weights which take the chains down as movement is running. The weights should be pulled back up to re-wind, approx once each week. The dimensions of the clock are - 22 cms wide x 52 cms tall x 13cms deep. The brass weights weigh approx 1 x 980grms and 1 x 948 grms It is a heavy item to post and I would use a secure Courier read more
