This 1888 Solid 4 Color Gold Hunter Pocket Watch is in quite good condition, as you can see. The bow and hinges are tight and smooth. The movement states Elgin Natl. Watch Co. (serial number) 3351649 Safety Pinion. The case measures 40 mm in diameter, and 14.38mm in thickness. The case decorations are hand wrought. The watch weighs 51.7 grams, with the movement. I wind the watch daily, with my other watches, but have not tested it for accuracy, it does seem to run beautifully, however, I like to listen to it (my dog does not.) Just to clarify, It is not marked, but I bought it from a reputable dealer, who said "It tests as low carat gold, most likely 10k." states the following concerning gold content, movement, and case serial number relationships: "For Elgin watches, case serial numbers on solid gold watches will usually be only 10% or less of the serial number on the movement." Tfore, since the watch movement serial number is 3351649, and the case serial number is 27496, and the latter goes into the former roughly 122 times, it is far less than 10%.
