Elgin keyless gold plated going barrel lever fob watch fully cleaned & working Description: On offer is a fully cleaned, serviced and working (with 1 year guarantee) Elgin gold plated keyless going barrel lever fob watch The dial is white enamel with Roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial. The hands are blue steel. The dial is signed: ELGIN The gold plated case has a rear hinged cover and snap on front bezel. The rear is engraved with the initials BBJ. The inside of the rear cover is stamped: Fahys MONTAUK QUALITY 10499836 The movement is an Elgin keyless going barrel club toothed lever. It is wound via the winding button (crown), the hands are set by pulling out the winding button and turning it. It has cut temperature compensated bimetallic balance with gold timing screws. Micro-Regulation is via a lever controlled by nut on a curved threaded bar. It is stamped: ELGIN NAT'L WATCH CO. U.S.A. 23017612 17 JEWELS The movement serial number gives a date for manufacture of 1920. This is a nice example of an early 20th century gold plated Elgin going barrel lever fob watch in good over all condition. Movement condition: Very good, the finish is bright with no marking. The balance, lever pallets, lever, escape, fourth, third and centre wheels are jewelled (17 jewels). Dial condition: Excellent, There is one very faint hair line crack at 6 o'clock but otherwise perfect. Case condition: Good, there are no dents or scratches. The gold plating is very good with only a small amount of damage along the edge of the front bezel. The front bezel snaps on as it should, the rear cover also snaps shut. The rear hinge is good. Crystal: Glass, Original, very light pocket wear. It runs well (for over 30 hours on full wind) and keeps good time. Size: 42mm (1.66 inches) in diameter and 10mm (0.42 inches) thick.
