Elizabeth (Petrovna) (1741 - 1762) 1741 - dated Medal or 'Accession Rouble'History Elizabeth, granddaughter of Peter the Great, courted the support of the nobles and Russian army regiments before seizing the throne in 1741. She was indolent, indulgent and patronised the nobility, but her court was the most dazzling in Europe and she was widely respected by European leaders. Each medallion is struck in solid Golden-Alloy to Proof (mirror-like) quality , and absolutely flawless. "Proof" is a method of striking in which more pressure is applied to the striking process to enhance the detail and then each coin is examined for quality. 38.6mm diameter (Full-Size) and 23.8 grams weight. Nickel-Silver composition. We have obtained a small quantity of various types of these medallions and we have about 20 different designs all struck to the same superb quality. There were originally only 1,000 of each made in a collection of 18 different Imperial Russian retro Roubles but these are now diminished to just a few of each.
