PRINTING BLOCKS AND ROTARY TOOL 19th Century For marking out embroidery patterns I have printed out, using a modern ink pad, the various patterns of the rotary blocks , and the individual printing blocks. The embroiderer would have used a non-permanent ink which, after the pattern had been hand sewn , would dissolve in water. These tools were later superseded by paper iron-on patterns, ( see photograph). They came within a box marked "CHOCOLAT DE L'UNION LYON". Which leads me to the conclusion that they may be French. Lyons was a centre of the textile industry. Ich spreche fliessend Deutsch , je peux lire et ecrire francais, comprendo espanol sencillo ! Insured Airmail Postage:- World wide Post free I use AIRSURE INSURED AIRMAIL or, for some countries SIGNED FOR INSURED AIRMAIL. They are both extremely reliable methods of sending valuable items.
