During his career, EmlenEtting created scores of paintings and drawings that were exhibited in more than 30 one-man shows and in multiple-artist shows in New York, Philadelphia, Paris and other cities. The Philadelphia Museum of Art bought at least two of his paintings, and local critics received his work warmly.He taught at Temple University's Tyler School of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia College of Art and Florida Southern College. Mr. Etting was born in Philadelphia, and spent his early years in Europe. He was married to Gloria Braggiotti. He graduated from St. George's School in Middletown, Rhode Island and earned a degree in French literature from Harvard University. After graduation, he spent four years in Paris, where he met Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Jean-Paul Sartre, and learned to paint.His works hang in the private collections of Walter H. Annenberg, the late Helen Hayes, Bernice Wintersteen, Mary Clark Rockefeller and in the Pennsylvania Academy, the Addison Gallery in Andover, Mass and other museums.Mr. Etting was a former president of the Alliance Francaise in Philadelphia and a founder and former read more
