Welcome to my auctions, I will be listing a great little collection of smoking collectables all in the form of vesta matchsafes, and all with different advertising. I am happy to combine postage where possible, please just ask me for a posting quote.This auction is for a really rare brown enamelled chocolate bar novelty vesta matchsafe, with P.H. Suchard in capitals on the front, and also marked 'Made in Vienna' on the back. The top flips back to open, and it closes with a very good snap shut. Has a striker on the bottom.Philipe Suchard opened a confectioner's business in Neuchatel, Switzerland in 1824 before establishing his chocolate company in 1826. Suchard Chocolate has been a hit ever since, this vesta matchsafe probably dates to c. 1890.The vesta meausres approx. 2.5 cms x 4.5 cms, is in 'used' condition as you can see from the pictures above, but a truely rare example.
