Encyclopaedia Britannica 1771 1st Edition Facsimile Rprnt Set 3 Vol Encyclopedia Three Volume Set. Very good + Condition. Great looking dark brown hardcovers, with aged look of covers to approximate original. Covers look like leather but are hardcovers. The first edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica was issues serially in sections from 1768 to 1771. The first bound volume of these sections was completed in 1769, the second in 1770 and the third and last in 1771. Subtitled "A Dictionary of the Arts and Sciences" the set contains 2,459 pages and 160 copperplate engravings by Andrew Bell. Sellebrity Analytics
