This was printed to commemorate the Bicentennial of Encyclopædia Britannica. 3 volumes - all 8 1/ 2" by 10 3/ 8" high. 697 + 1009 + 953 pages. Dark brown simulated leather binding. Antiqued pages have simulated aging, foxing & stains. The first edition of Encyclopædia Britannica was issued serially in section from 1768 to 1771. The first bound volume of these sections was completed in 1769, the second in 1770 and the third–and last–in 1771. Subtitled "A Dictionary of the Arts and Sciences," the set contained 2,459 pages and 160 copperplate engravings by Andrew Bell. A fascinating view of the world from the minds ofthe 18th century academic elite of Great Britain. See images for condition. Some rubbing & stains to covers & bumping on corners. No apparent marks or writing other than simulated aging. Possible soiling on page edges, but it's hard to differentiate from the intentional simulations. These don't appear to have been used much, but there is overall light wear & staining from moving around the last forty years. Please look carefully & ask any questions prior to bidding - make sure this is what you want before you bid. I will send more images if read more
