Unlike other lesser quality models found on eBay, this rendition of the Endeavour has been designed and built with quality and detail in mind - items like its meticulously painted hull depicting the original yacht and its contoured boom, not just a round dowel - put this model in a class of its own. HistoryThe sailing yacht Endeavour is a 130 foot J Class classic sailing sloop which was launched in 1934 and embodies one of the most formidable and famous sailing yachts in the world. Built for aircraft magnet, Thomas J. Sopwith, Endeavour was designer Charles Nicholson's third J-Class yacht. He before designed her that: "She will have quite a normal hull... because I have thought it right to suppress possible experimental form, which would be most interesting to try out, but which I have to leave to American designers." He did, however, produce the most beautiful J-Class and her rig was innovative. The Endeavour won many famous races, including several against Sir Thomas Lipton's infamous Shamrock V.Elizabeth Meyer of Newport, RI bought Endeavour in 1984 and supervised her restoration. Since her re-launching in 1989, Endeavour, now in the luxury charter trade, has sailed over 100,000 miles and hosted more than 3,000 guests in comfort and safety. She has cruised the waters of Europe, the Mediterranean, the West Indies, the United States and Canada and has taken part in many regattas, sailing against modern boats as well as classics.
