Rare, valuable autographed cricket bat of M.C.C (Marylebone Cricket Club) Touring Side to Australia 1954/55. M.C.C played as England in the 1954/55 Ashes series against Australia, but as M.C.C in all other games. The series consisted of 23 matches - 5 Test Matches (M.C.C won 3-1), 12 First Class (M.C.C won 5-1) and 6 Minor Matches (M.C.C won 5-0). This series was the only time a Professional Cricketer (Len Hutton) captained a M.C.C tour of Australia. This was also one of the most successful tours. The Ashes were retained and M.C.C won 5 of their victories by an innings. Picked it up at an Antique store, seems a little worn in general, but nothing too bad. Below are the 15 players that competed in the Test Series. Hutton, L. (c) P.B.H. May (vc) M.C. Cowdrey Graveney, T.W. Compton, D.C.S. T.E. Bailey W.J. Edrich Appleyard, R. Wardle, J.H. Evans, T.G. (wk) Statham, J.B. Tyson, F.H. Andrew, K.V. (wk) R.T. Simpson Bedser, A.V. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.
