The item up for auction is two hardcover books - Animal Painters - of England From the Year 1650...A Brief History of Their Lives and Works compiled by Sir Walter Gilbey, Bart. - Volumes I and II. Vinton & Co./London/1900. "Illustrated with twenty-eight specimens of their paintings, chiefly from wood engravings by F. Babbage." Both volumes have an "index to paintings, engravings, etc." Volume I has 253 pages. Volume II has 311 pages. Complete, securely bound with no tears or creases. Both good. Some of the artists represented are: Henry Alken, John Ferneley, J. F. Herring, Benjamin Marshall, James Pollard, John Sartorius, George Stubbs and John Wooton.
