An English soft paste porcelain sparrow beak jug. decorated in cobalt blue with the Plantation pattern C1765. The Jug measures 8.1cm (3 2/8") in diameter including the handle and spout and stands 8.1cm (3 2/8") high. It is in good display condition. There has been some restoration to the spout and to some chips to the foot. There is also a hairline crack. Please see pictures to fully assess condition. The translucency is a straw colour and the glaze has a light blue/green tinge. Unmarked. I don't think this jug was made by the Worcester factory as the ducks are missing from the pattern. The foot rim shape isn't typical to Worcester and the paste/ glaze doesn't look to be Worcester. The handle and jug shape is also unlike Worcester's.After doing some research, I Think this jug was made by the bow Factory, due to the shape of the jug and handle. I haven't been able to find a version of the Bow plantation pattern but Geoffery Godden talks about it in his book English blue and white porcelain. If anyone in ebay land can help identify this lovely little jug, please message me. I am always grateful for any information in the very confusing field of early English porcelain.
