Bernard Picart (French, 1673-1733), "The Ceremonies and Religious Customs of the Various Nations of the Known World: Together with Historical Annotations and several Curious Discourses, Equally Instructive and Entertaining; Volume I, Containing the Ceremonies of the Jews; and the Roman Catholicks (sic)", 1733, printed by William Jackson, for Claude Du Bosc, London, English translation; approximately folio size, leather boards and spine with gilt lettering and decoration, numerous engraved decorations including fold-out captioned in part "The POPE going in CEREMONY to take POSSESSION of the PONTIFICATE."Condition: Good to fair condition overall, text appears intact with illustrations, front board separated from spine but present, heavy wear and chipping to cover, corner bumped with some losses, spine chipped, interior very good overall, expected minor toning, less than expected foxing, some pencil or ink inscriptions or notes, primarily to endpapers, some expected creases to fold-out.
