Rare English Silver Fusee Cylinder Hunter w/ MASONIC Watch cock c1820This is a really superb example of an English movement made circa 1820.The movement comes in a top quality purpose made case with hallmarks for London 1879 – this is NOT a recase but a case made specifically for this movement.The watch has been cleaned and serviced and keeps good time but please do not expct quartz like accuracy from a 200 year old movement.Movement – the gilt full plate fusee movement has a cylinder escapement with a brass ‘scape wheel. The movement is decorated with a rare balance cock decorated with ornate pierced detailing and also featuring two Masonic pillars and a grotesque face. The movement has a large diamond endstone within a blue steel setting and a silver regulator disc. The movement is signed “Will’m Henry, Islington Road, London” # 1845. The movement has a working stop / star mechanism, lever on the side of the movement – this is hidden under the bezel when in the case and so the bezel needs to be in the open position to operate it.The movement is in 95% mint condition – super clean conditionThe movement has its original gilt dust cap – not shownCase – the movement comes in a massive English silver Hunter case, which was purpose made for this movement. The movement has a hinged back and front and a hinged bezel. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and coin edged sides.The front cover pops crisply open to 90 degrees when you press the button on the stem in.The case is un ultra crisp condition and is very sharp and very clean. There are marks on the case however – some light knife marks on the thumb piece of the bezel and also a scratch on the vacant shield on the front and some tiny marks on the back. However I am being overly critical here, as the case really is in pristine conditionDial – the white enamel dial has gold minute and hour hands and a good blue steel and gold sub seconds hand. The dial is in 99% mint condition – again, as clean as the rest of the watchThe watch has a mineral glassThe watch measures 57mm wide x 18mm deepThe watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key Check out my other items !
