From Emes & Barnrad. Without quesiton, one of the most important firms of its time. Date marked 1825. Following the death of husband John, Rebeccah Emes was listed with her brother-in-law William in 1808. Later that same year, formed the partnership with Edward Barnard. This was the first listing for him. Grimwade writes the partnership was "...unquestionably one of the largest working in this period, with wide connections in the trade" (page 504). The firm sold extensively to Rundell & Bridge, the largest retailer in the world. They also crafted magnificent racing trophy cups for Cattle & Barber of York. Examples of their work are found in important private and institutional collections worldwide. Several are displayed in the famed Clark Art Institute.
