We offer here a 9 1/2 inch dark blue transferware plate. It is a French historical scene, one of several scenes depicted in the French Series by Enoch Wood & Sons. The pottery operated from 1818 to 1846. It bears a backstamp with view name and an imprint of the Wood name. This one is entitled Vue de la Porte Romaine a Andernach. The surround has a grapevine pattern with grapes hanging directly over the scene. It is in fine condition, free of chips, cracks, hairlines, stains, and repairs. The glaze shows some wear in the well and on the inner ridge.
