One brand new Memory Backup BATTERY for the Ensoniq SD-1, VFX-SD, ESQ-1, and SQ-80. Ensoniq used Panasonic 3V Lithium batteries in all of their keyboards and effects units, except the ASR-10/88 and ZR-76, to backup internal sounds, sequencer memory, and other data. These Lithium Cylindrical Type 3V batteries are not sold is stores. The differences that make them suitable for your Ensoniq are; they have 2 tabs (prongs) welded to them for soldering to a PBC (printed circuit board), they are 3 Volts, have a wide operational temperature range, have an extremely small self-discharge for long service and shelf life, and are very safe. If your Ensoniq is 10 years old, you should backup all of your sounds, sequencer data, and any other files. These batteries will fail without warning and you will lose your data if it isn't saved.The battery has to be soldered to the Ensoniq motherboard. You must first desolder the old battery, then solder the new one to the PCB. Replacing the battery is easy depending upon your soldering experience. It should take a qualified technician about 30 minutes of bench time to do the job.Ensoniq's were designed to give you a Low Battery Message, but that doesn't always happen.
