The time has come to sell my childrens toy replica ERA racing car, my children lost interest many years ago and has been in storage for the last 10 years. This is a very rare collectable piece and has been in my family for the past 25 years, would look great in a classic car showroom as a showpiece etc. As far as i am aware the last time one of these appeared on the market was back in 2006 at a classic car auction and sold for £2.750. Brief history: The ERA (English Racing Automobiles) was based on the 1500cc Riley engine in a chassis designed by Reid Railton. In all only 17 cars were built. They were a huge success and took British prestige all over the world. In 1937 the ERA gained more race victories than any other car, Sadly the financial strain was enormous and by 1939 the factory was forced to close. This is an exciting scaled down model and although it sold to very wealthy families in the 1970's for their children to enjoy, it is now more of a collectors piece than a childs toy. Hand built, limited edition, 5 h.p, 4 stroke engine with electric start, tubular steel chassis, one-piece moulded fibre glass body, automatic transmission, heavy duty bearings on hubs, drum brakes, hand brake, alloy steering wheel, upholstered seat, dimensions length 228cm, width 107cm, height 79cm The chromework has surface rust only , front read more
