The introduction to this Limited Editions Club Gold Medal book was supplied by Sinclair Lewis. The illustrations are lithographs, drawn on the stone by the well known artist Lynd Ward, who signed the book. The edition has been designed by Elmer Adler, and printed at The Princeton University Press. The paper is a smooth white all-rag sheet specially made by the Worthy Paper Company. The binding is of boards covered with a wine-red linen and stamped, in silver leaf, with a decoration made by Mr. Ward. The Monthly Letter of the Limited Editions Club is included. Allen and Patricia Ahearn, in their Collected Books: The Guide to Identification and Values (Fourth Edition, 2011), valued this particular edition at $750.00. 6.75 x 10 inches; 512 pages. The book is in excellent condition, while the sturdy slip case is in fairly good condition, with some discoloration and a tear at the top edge of approximately 1.75 inches, but these do not show on a book shelf.
