ERZGEBIRGE VILLAGE ARCHED CANDLE HOLDER...5 CHOIR BOYS...2 HOUSES....ONE CHURCH ...2 TREES...STANDS ON 4 PEGS LEGS WITH AN ARCH HOLDING 4 CANDLES The Erzgebirge region of Germany was the largest Christmas and toy supplier in the world in the 1800's and early 1900's. The Erzgebirge villages of Schneeberg, Olbernhau, Annaberg and Seiffen were the most famous of all producing Christmas items as early as 1830-1840. These hand carved animals. people, trees and handle holders are still being made today. The history of Erzgebirge is quite interesting and amazing and well worth reading if you are a collector of these wonderful intricate pieces. Today I have up for auction a Candle arch from this region of Germany that has been completely handcrafted and carved. This is an older piece that made while Germany was still the Democratic Republic which was East Germany. Even though this is an older piece it is in excellent like new condition and includes the original candles. It is very clean and damage free and seems to have never even been displayed.
