Vintage ERZGEBIRGE Wood Carolers Church Music Box Made in GDR RUEGE Swiss movement VERY GOOD Condition ITEM DESCRIPTION: A WONDERFUL FIND!!! This is a vintage ORIGINAL ERZGEBIRGE wood MUSIC BOX made in GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC (East Germany). EXPERTIC was an export association used for East Germany hand crafted goods before the wall came down. The music box features a church, two pine trees, and five carolers - one carrying a star. It's a Swiss made REUGE music mechanism. It plays " Süsser die Glocken nie klingen " ( The bells never sound sweeter )The music box measures about 7-1/2" tall to the church steeple, base is 5-1/2" across, the caroler figures are almost 2" tall. A lever slides out to start the music box and the upper platform rotates while the music plays. Comes in the original box which is in very good condition. This music box is in VERY VERY GOOD CONDITION. I assume this was used on occasion but it was obviously well taken care of and stored. Truly a precious adornment to add to your Christmas Collection.
