ESCAPE and EVASION POW - ARMY - RAF - NAVY COMPASS This auction is for a FLEET safety razor blade which was issued to British military personnel of all three forces. While most of the Fleet Razor Blades were “normal” the Razor Blade offered here is one of the MAGNETISED ones for use as a compass for escape and evasion when behind enemy lines or for escaping prisoner of war. The blade comes with its original wrapping and is unissued. It does have a small light surface rust marks/spots from 60 years of storage, but for one of these blades is in very good condition for age. See PHOTO. As the blade is magnetised it will point to north when suspended on a piece of cotton or floated on water. The blades have a double � � "Crows Foot arrow " on them and this would point to north. This escape and evasion razor blade is mentioned in the book “ MI9-Escape & Evasion 1939-45” by J. M. Langley A web site on compass also suggest these were for Naval personel and I did buy a few of there Fleet Razor Baldes in the past with other WWII Naval items. I have a few of these and the blade sent will be in similar or slightly better condition to that in the photo.
