This beautiful sculpture of a Colima female fertility figure was part of the personal collection of actor & patron of the arts, Vincent Price and his wife, Mary Grant Price. The Price family had taken to calling this ancient figure the "Colima Venus de Milo", because she is missing her arms, but remains elegant and powerful nonetheless. Although abstract in form this female figure is clearly representative of fertility and power.Vincent and Mary were among the earliest West Coast collectors of Pre-Columbian art, purchasing from all of the great dealers, including Stendahl.They were very fond of these Colima gingerbread figures, and enjoyed them in their home. This piece dates back to 200 BC - 200 AD and measures 12" x 6".
