This Elegant designed Old German Black Forest Cuckoo clock was found at a recent estate sale a long with several other Cuckoo clocks and antique European and American clocks . (Please view the pictures below). The lovely clock's all wooden case was hand carved by German wood carvers in the Black Forest region of Germany. The clock measures approx. 14 1/2" from top of bird to bottom of pendulum and a width of 6 1/2" at the widest point. The carvings were beautifully and artistic created with a dimensional look depicting a little Mountain Chalet as the center of the case . The entire front of the Chalet is framed with lovely Hand carved Forest floral such as Maple leaves and tree limbs. This piece was completely carved from a single piece of wood. The upper part of the pitch roof of the Chalet is displaying another beautiful arrange of the same leaves and limbs with a fabulous winged bird perch on top. The pendulum is also of wood with a leaf in the center. The sides of the Chalet have a hinged door for access and viewing the movement inside. The face of the clock is numbered in White Roman Numerals. The hands are also very decorative in design. The back has another wood panel for access to the movement. The movement is one of the finest German made. The movement is powered by two pine cone shaped metal weights that hang on Brass chains. read more
