Sakata Vintage Cultured 48 Pearl Strand Necklace 16” Silver Clasp 7-7.5 mm Color: Cream with iridescent & rose overtones Clasp Silver marked silver with small 3mm pearl Original blue velvet box reportedly from the 40’s. Pearls have thick nacre with very good luster. Length currently 17 inches but loosely strung so more like 16 - 15” choker length Or can be doubled and worn as a bracelet. Sakata was in business from the early 1900s up until at least the 1950s in Japan , This is a gorgeous classic mid 20th century vintage Japanese silver cultured pearl strand in original blue velvet box by Sakata Pearl, Ginza , Tokyo . The clasp is marked silver on the back which was usual marking on older japenese pearl clasps. Pearls are mostly round with some minor imperfections. Details: 16 Inch Cultured Pearl Strand 7 to 7.5 MM Currently 17 inches long but string is loosely knotted. Creamy Rose with blue green irridescence overtones. Sakata Japanese cultured pearls from 40's 50's with original blue velvet case with cream silk & velvet lining. There are a few darker spots on tan velvet.Very nice quality thick nacre with some natural blemishes.Clasp is marked silver which was used in older Japanese clasps & has a small 3mm pearl.Very pretty & were strung in 2005 & worn a few times. Stringing knots were done losely so necklace is currently 17 inches.If knots were tighter I imagine it would be more in 16 inch range.48 Pearl range 7 mm to 7.5mm Sakata pearls are somewhat rare. These were purchased from an elderly woman who said they were a gift received in the 40's. I can't be sure but they are most likely 40's to 50's Thanks for Looking!
