Up for auction is a stunning etched crystal and applied gold open salt cellar and glass spoon that most likely dates to the early 1900's. T is a comparable non-footed salt listed on page 32, item #169, in 5,000 Open Salts, a Collector's Guide by Heacock and Johnson. The salt is decorated with gold on the rim, and etched in a "grapes and leaves" pattern with gold applied to the leaf veins and intertwined stems. It measures about 2-1/8" in diameter at the widest part of the bowl, and stands 1" tall on three delicately curled applied feet. The long-handled clear glass spoon is almost 2-3/4" long. These pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or flakes and only light wear to the gold. Paymentby PayPal or money order only, with payment due within 3 days of auction end. Package will be shipped by parcel post. I'll be adding more salt cellars over the next week, and would be happy to combine shipping if you're interested in more than one. Happy bidding! |
