supersize image 'Concarneau' coloured etching drawn and etched by Raoul Serres From an edition 26/150 Raoul Serres; French etcher and illustrator; 1881-1971; A prolific illustrator he illustrated many books and was a student of Jules Jacquet, Henri-Joseph Dubouchet and Leon Bonnat, Serres won favour as a stamp designer and engraver but was a french member of the Artists in 1906 and exhibited at the Salon, he received an honorable mention in 1898 and a third-class Prix de Rome medal in 1906. One of Serres low edition rarer colour etchings printed by the Galerie Lutetia, Paris France. circa 1920. Signed in pencil to bottom right with the edition 26/150 in pencil bottom left and the title beneath the image. This superb original etching has bright, crisp and unfaded colouring and tone, with rich sepia intaglio ink lines, the impression is fine, with excellent platemark, and measures 51 cms. x 21 cms. (20 x 8� ins.) Printed on A. D. Valcke watermarked hand made wove sheet size 64 cms. x 35 cms. (25 x 13� ins.) with deckle edges. The condition of the image is excellent.
