Click to see supersized image 'Temple Gate' Bristol an original etching by Edward W. Sharland; Bristol, active, 1911 - 1928. An English architectural and landscape etcher, Edward W. Sharland was a full member of the Fine Art Trade Guild. His etchings were exhibited in Liverpool, Bristol and at the Royal West of England Academy and the Royal Academy, London. Sharland's etchings include scenes of cities in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Holland as well as views of London, Liverpool, Manchester and Bristol. This fine etching has retained its excellent colouring, bright and unfaded, with excellent raised intaglio sepia ink line detail and plate tone. The image measures 28 cms. x 19 cms, (11 x 7� ins.) within a fine but evident platemark and impression on a medium wove paper sheet size 37 cms. x 26 cms, (14� x 10�ins.) signed in pencil ' E. Sharland', bottom right, with the title in the image bottom right. The sheet carries an publishers embossed blindstamp below the image.
