Sudden Death Recon 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Big Red One, LRRP Vietnam War Sudden Death Recon LRRP - 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry ( 1st Infantry Division ) Rare Shoulder patch. The Long Range Recon Patrol Element of the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry was utilsied in February of 1969, with attached Recon Elements of the 1st Infantry Division to form I Company (India Company) of the 75th Rangers. Arriving in Vietnam in October of 1965 the 2nd / 2nd Infantry were deployed to serve with the 1st Infantry Division. Variously stationed at Bien Hoa, Ben Cat, Lai Khe, Dia An and Phuoc Vinh.
