AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN ROMANIAN RHAPSODY This very lovely, very rare and very historic original 1907 Railroad Bond from the Austro-Hungarian Empire!! Issued by the Temesvar-Varjasi Railroad Co. at its office in Budapest, the bond is exquisitely engraved in lime-olive green and black on thick paper with ornate designs and bi-lingual (German - Hungarian) text. There is an Imperial Seal at the bottom with a winged wheel, symbol of the National Railway, which is repeated in the twin titles. Two Directors have signed at the bottom. The focus of this stunning relic of a long ago Empire is the large central vignette of a highly detailed, onrushing steam locomotive - a very rare image among European railroad certificates!! The value of the bond was 200 Kroner and it was due in 1921. It was not redeemed due to the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a result of WW1! In fact, the then Hungarian City of Temesvar is now located in Romania thanks to the shifting tides of time and history. The bond has a separate full uncut sheet of green coupons with blue circular seals , each containing the Winged Wheel symbol. Both the bond and the coupon sheet remain in virtually flawless, pristine condition without any cancellations or other distractions. A magnificent piece for framing with a superb steam locomotive vignette !! All of my my coins, read more
