GREAT VINTAGE GILLETTE FATBOY TTO ADJUSTABLE SAFETY RAZOR! DATE CODE E4 ~ 1959(Auction is for razor set only ~ sorry! Shave cream is for display purpose only)**PLEASE ALSO READ AUCTION IN ADDITION TO PHOTOS. Photos are taken under very bright lights to make flaws MORE visible than in person ~ however, due to the shiny nature of chrome occasionally some haze etc may be difficult to capture on photo ~ it will always be described, so please, please read the condition. THANK YOU and please let me know if you have any questions ~ I am happy to help!Mechanical Condition:TTO is functioning properly for use. Half turn lock is tight, blade is secure. Knob turns freely to both open and close. Adjuster Blade gaps are even and pictured.Cosmetic Condition:Razor: Chroming is still very good and razor is, as always, pristinely clean! Age related wear is minimal ~ the doors are still very good ~ couple pin point haze spots and one larger, pencil point +, but not as large as a pencil eraser thinning spot to one shoulder ~ all stable, smooth, and shiny ~ and quite honestly very hard to see! Guard bars have just the hint of some haze wear. The inside blade plate has just a couple pencil point spots - these have been addressed and are stabilized and perfectly smooth and shiny! The inside of one door has some hazy speckling but also stabilized, shiny and smooth ~ can not be felt at all! The underside blade plate is excellent - does have some minor wear up along the side where the guard bar meets the razor body. Adjuster dial is still excellent with just a pin point size spot here or there. All stable, shiny, and smooth! Handle is also beautiful ~ one pencil eraser spot on one side, also all taken care of and will not cause issue! Some wear up inside the TTO knob, no issues. This is still a beautiful Fat Boy & none of the age is major ~ all very subtle! Photos are taken under extreme bright lights to make any wear be easily visible online ~ any wear described is truly subtle and difficult to see under normal lighting. One door has a bit of a clatter to it when there is no blade. When a blade is loaded it is tight as is the blade, therefore I mention it under cosmetic. If you receive it and you would be unhappy or feel it is more than cosmetic, I will gladly take it back ~ especially considering I am not in the position to actually test drive it! Please use the zoom and keep in mind this razor is 60 or so years old ~ it may have incidental marks, swirls etc from the years but anything that is wear or damaged is always listed. ** Please be aware if viewing photos on your phone that any imperfections are more difficult to see. I have not had any issues, but was looking at my own auctions on my phone and noticed there is a distinct difference between my tablet/computer and my phone. ** General Razor Info:The vintage razor by which all others are judged! This razor is known for it's exceptional balance and feel and is known as a "fool proof" razor for one of the smoothest shaves you'll ever have! A couple key points to remember if you have never shaved with a fatboy ~ initially set the adjuster to a 3 or 4 ~ this is usually the best setting for a smooth shave without unnecessary nicks and cuts, especially while getting used to the aggressiveness of this razor. Also, remember to unlock doors and open slightly before adjusting. Adjusting blade level with doors tight can damage the adjuster. Pre-Purchase Cleaning & Care:Every razor I sell is meticulously gone over and hand cleaned and cared for. If time was money, these would probably leave me broke, but I truly love being able to bring these fabulous tools back to what they were meant to be and see them go to people who will care for them and enjoy the luxury of a shave the way it was supposed to be. These will last another lifetime if properly cared for!Razors are soaked and hand cleaned in a 5-7 step process, depending on the condition. This process, although time consuming, will ensure no remnants of any previous use remain. I guarantee your razor is completely clean before anything else is done.Once cleaned, it is hand polished with a high end, chrome safe polish until restored to the closest original condition. This process and products used will also stabilize any finish loss present.Razor is then put through a 2 step, mild cleaning process to remove any traces of polish. After all of that, it is sterilized in professional equipment that is safe for the razor, as well as rendering it ready to use! Lastly, it is lubricated with high grade lubricant. None of my razors are ever boiled or cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. This will often result in damage to the mechanics of the razor. Razors are ready to go upon receipt but should be rinsed well prior to use from shipping.If auction includes a case or other shaving accessories they are also put through rigorous cleaning. Often there will be some staining with these items due to age but they are cleaned with FDA-Cleared Sterilant/High Level Disinfectant used for processing re-usable medical and dental devices. This will not affect the integrity of the item.Post Purchase Cleaning & Care: Your new razor will last you years with very simple care! Make sure to rinse it well after each use and remove the blade. If you notice any soap scum build up, simply give it a good overnight soak in some mild dish detergent, like Dawn. Or even easier ~ give it a run through the dishwasher! Just make sure to use LIQUID detergent and not the powder or cubes as these contain abrasives that can damage your razor. And most importantly, enjoy your shave with this timeless piece ~ they don't make things like they used to! Guarantee:I put forth what is probably a ridiculous effort (an average razor takes hours over the course of several days) to make these razors as perfect as they can be and I want my buyers to be thrilled when they open their package.
