This is a great thimble that makes a fabulous display. I am pretty sure the thimble is a man made material although it has been crafted to look very much like animal bone or aged ivory. I believe it is the same one issued by the Thimble Guild several years back but I have no paperwork to that effect. The band has a great nautical scrimshaw portrayal of a sailing ship at dock. You can see most of the display from looking at both photos. The cap is knurled brass. It is a very handsome thimble, very well done and in excellent condition.
