Presented for sale a Excellent WALTHAM open faced GF (STAR) case 15J MARQUIS pocket watch from 1909 General Description This is a handsome WALTHAM open faced, pendant-wound pocket watch with WALTHAM WATCH Co 15J, MARQUIS, lever movement, from 1909, in a STAR, gold filled case. Case The double hinged, hunter case is a STAR, gold filled, measuring 50.5 mm in diameter (excluding top pendant) and has the DENNISON Case Co. emblem and 20 year guarantee statement. The case is is in GOOD/EXCELLENT overall condition for it's age and use, with a few marks due to daily use to some areas. The front and rear covers are a good secure fit. Movement The superb quality, AMERICAN WATCH Co. WALTHAM, MARQUIS, 15 Jewel, lever escapement, pendant-wound/set movement is marked AMERICAN WATCH CO, WALTHAM MASS., MARQUIS and a serial number that dates the watch to 1909. It is in EXCELLENT physical condition, runs well and keeps good time (within 1 minute a day or better). The movement has been serviced (on 07/02/12). Dial The white porcelin dial has the WALTHAM, USA emblems and is in EXCELLENT condition. However there are a couple of hairlines that can be seen in the photos. The watch hands are blued steel and there is a sub-seconds dial at 6 o'clock with a blued steel hand. The applied hour markers are black Roman numerals. Features Super WALTHAM, read more
