An exceptional silver & gold dial, late Victorian silver fusee wound pocket watch in very nice condition. large & heavy, the watch comes with a silver watch chain and its antique key. The solid silver case is engine turned to the back with a nice blank cartouche to the centre. Case is heavy, has a coin edge, is in nice condition, has a little wear to the engine turning with some light marks associated with pocket use. The case covers shut tight, the hinges are fine & tight, silver bow, pendant & button all good. The back cover opens on depressing the pendant button but does not `fly open`, the case spring is there and intact but the cover is snug. The winding square is found on inner cover, the key hole nicely engraved. Case has no major dents or dings just associated pocket wear. The mineral glass looks perfect. There are no inscriptions or dedications. Case is hallmarked for Chester 1890 and numbered 26488 same as the movement. The wonderful silver dial is highly engraved on an engine turned background. The fancy `Roman` numerals are rose gold, not plated & are `laid on`. There is also a gold `laid on` garland to the outer chapter ring with a gold bouquet to the centre. The dial, if not perfect is not far off. T he hands are `blued` steel of the `spade` design, with a nice counter balanced hand to the sub seconds dial read more
