DESCRIPTION: This outstanding vintage compact is signed BIRKS STERLING. This is a Canadian company, well known for it's high quality jewelry and accessories that has been in business for over 100 years. This beautiful compact is finely crafted in solid sterling silver and features an engraved top showing flowers, leaves and scrollwork. The center cartouche is meant to be engraved with the owners initials, but this piece never was. It opens to reveal a mirror on one side and a screen on the other side that would have originally held powder. It measures 2 1/2" in diameter and is in very good condition, opening and closing securely. There are no dents to the case. The total weight of this piece is 53.7 grams.
