This kalpak was originally worn by the Nomadic mountain tribes of Kyrgyzstan. The kalpak is designed to keep the head warm in winter and shade the head in summer. This hat will comfortably fit a men's M/L. You will need to adjust the brim up and down to fit your head to size. Height as shown in the second photo is 11", the rim is 1.5". The trimming and piping is gray velvet. The embroidery is black and gray threads. Lined inside. Top quality craftsmanship. The kalpak hat from Kyrgyzstan is commonly worn today. It is also worn as a ceremonial hat for special events and weddings. Top quality hat.Wool production is a traditional craft of Kyrgyzstan. Since the country is very mountainous and has many tribal nomadic communities, they tend to live under very cold weather conditions.
