antiquer47 EXQUISITE Tall Elegant Ornate White Ironstone Pitcher N EXQUISITETALL ELEGANTEMBOSSED WHITE IRONSTONEPITCHER What a gorgeous pitcher! It reminds me of a long necked Victorian lady all dressed up in a wedding dress and wearing high heels. It's clearly a Victorian piece, probably from the 1890's, but I've searched through all my resource books and can't identify the potter. I think it may be Knowles, Taylor & Knowles Pottery as they used a number of college names for their ironstone patterns, but that's only a guess. Whoever made it did a wonderful job as it's beautifully potted and drop dead gorgeous! The pattern name is Berkley and I've shown that mark from the bottom of the pitcher. The pitcher has an incredibly elegant shape with a long, slender neck, elongated body and wonderful, deeply scalloped pedestal base. ON the outside, t's a wonderful embossed pattern of pie crust embossing (often also called blanket stitch embossing). Around the neck t are long, feathery foutains of scrolls and a long, flame stitch like pattern. ON the lower portion of the body t's a very large embossed pattern of fancy, large, stylized leaves. The platter is approx. 12 1/2" tall and 10" wide from spout to handle. The packed weight is six pounds. The condition is terrific.
