This is a large Extinct Fossil Crinoid plate that was collected from Morocco. The plate has been professionally prepped by carving away limestone Matrix to reveal these amazing specimens. These Crinoids, also called a "Sea Lilly" were not actually a plant but a marine animal species in the echinoderm family, closely related to sea urchins and starfish. Crinoids have been found in the burgess shale fossil formation that dates back over 500 mya. This is a double crinoid specimen that has very nice detail and makes a wonderful aesthetically pleasing display. The specimen weighs in at 5 pounds 12.6 ounces and measures about 9 1/8 x 8 7/8 x 1 1/2 inches thick. This fossil makes a wonderful addition to any collection or a great window eye-catching display piece to get your customers attention.
