Featured in this auction is a vintage Early Carnelian footed flower frog made by Roseville Pottery somewhere in the 1910's or 1920's. This classic example of early Roseville is unmarked. This piece has a beautifully-round, domed design with three feet and 17 stem holes. The frog is in excellent condition with glaze drips and tiny pinholes, but there are no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. This gorgeous finish is a russet-colored underglaze with a matte green overdrip that has curdled on the piece and produced a beautiful mottled effect. The drip glazes are rich and vibrant, and the flow of the glazes is visible on the base along with stilt marks. The feet on the frog have been ground to level it where glaze pinholes are visible. This piece is 4-1/2" wide and 1-3/4" tall. This larger version of Roseville's round flower frog also appears to be relatively clean but does show some minor scuffing and stray marks from gentle use. Check out all 10 photos! This heavy flower frog insert would be perfect for any American art pottery or Roseville Pottery collector.
