EXTRAORDINARY NEKRASSOFF SERVING PIECE / CENTERPIECE!!! This is the best example of Nekrassoff's work that I have ever owned -- and well-worth repairing. Vintage, circa 1920s-1930s, Art Nouveau / Arts & Crafts, hand-hammered pewter with gold or brass wash footed compote, designed and manufactured by Serge Nekrassoff. Large bowl is oval-form and shows hand-hammering overall. The base is connected to the bowl with a series of hand-wrought organic Art Nouveau petals and stems, arranged in an oval to reflect the shape of the bowl and base. The outside of the piece has an applied gold or brass wash. SIZE: 14 1/4" wide; 8 3/4" deep; 4 3/4" tall. WEIGHT BEFORE PACKING: 2 pounds 13.1 ounces. MARKED ON UNDERSIDE: (with impressed script mark) "Nekrassoff" and (scratched into metal) "1745" (see image). CONDITION: Compote has been polished during its history, and some of the polish remains in the crevices. T are some acceptable scratches and abrasions, and some superficial marks to the surface that have affected the wash in a few spots. The base and/or connective stem has been bent, and the compote lists to one side (see image). This piece is complete, it is absolutely stunning, and is well-worth repairing.
