Extremely Rare 1971-72 Gilbert Perreault Buffalo Sabres Jersey

Pricing & History
How exciting! This is the earliest Gilbert Perreault jersey we have ever seen. This extremely rare example from the Sabres' second season in 1971-72 has all of the proper tagging. The Dick Fisher Athletic Goods label in the back of the neck has a "Size 44" flag tag sewn into the bottom. General Athletic laundry instruction tagging is sewn inside the rear left tail with another tag removed above it. This is an actual Gilbert Perreault jersey from his and the Sabres' sophomore season, which saw Buffalo change its striping pattern on the sleeves to make the middle yellow band wider than the outer stripes. Perreault was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1990, two decades after the Sabres made him the NHL's first overall draft pick heading into their inaugural season. The slick center remains Buffalo's all-time leader in games, goals, assists and points. With a few marks displaying possible game wear, there is a very good possibility that this Perreault jersey, with his retired #11 on the back and both sleeves, was worn by the Sabres' legend during a game as he scored 26 goals and 48 assists for 74 points in his second season. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany this superb and incredibly rare Gilbert Perreault jersey.
