The 2011 Royal Mail 'The Genius of Gerry Anderson'- Illustrated Mint Stamps & Miniature Sheet Presentation Pack.Issued on 11th January 2011. The Royal Mail has produced these stamps to acknowledge the genius of Gerry Anderson and to celebrate this 50th year anniversary of a TV revolution sparked when Anderson's first creation, 'Supercar' was broadcast. This fully illustrated Presentation Pack contains mint examples of the Royal Mail's set of six Gerry Anderson stamps together with a mint miniature sheet of four more stamps which are contined in a separately designed carrier. Inside the pack there is a printed commentary by Gerry Anderson expert, Chris Bentley, who discusses with Anderson about how his shows were devised. The miniature sheet's carrier card explains how the 'Microlenticular Technology' works in the words of Thunderbird's 'boofin', Brains. These four groundbreaking stamps produced by the Microlenticular Technology are the very first Royal Mail 'Motion Stamps'. Just by tipping the stamps at an angle you can see the classic opening sequences of Thunderbirds 1 to 4 taking off, making the stamps a unique collector's item!
