A wonderful antique English tubular gilt metal pin; beautifully made in high relief, with engraved leaves, applied orbs and set with a strikingly beautiful and finely detailed vulcanite (or similar material) cameo, depicting a bacchante in very high relief. A wonderfully dramatic, beautiful and hugely collectable Victorian pin - and so wearable! CONDITION : All original and very good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use, no damage. Cameo appears to have been re-set in its mount. Wants cleaning (or oiling?) or similar. DEFECTS : None. DATE/MARKS : Around 1880. Not marked. DIMENSIONS : Mount 69.5 x 65.2 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm).
