Description A superb extra heavy antique Victorian solid sterling silver curb link " double-albert " pocket watch chain with wonderful large attached silver & gold "shield" medal, and with English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1900 . Beautiful quality example with individually hallmarked chain links, with a silver t-bar and 2 swivel/dog catches. W ith no engraved inscriptions or monograms on medal. Measurements Great size, measures approx 18 inches (452mm) in length, (will easily go around the neck if wanted). Weight Very heavy 84 grams total weight . Date Has a s et of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1900 (date letter "a") on the t-bar, and on one swivel catch, (the other catch is hallmarked Birmingham 1902). E very chain link is stamped with a lion passant silver mark too. The large medal is silver hallmarked Birmingham 1890, (date letter "q"). Has a thick 9ct gold cartouche in centre containing at least 1g of solid 9ct gold. Maker Silversmiths initials "E.W & S". Condition Excellent condition and ready to be used. N o splits or cracks, no solder repairs and very little wear on the chain links. Nice tight links. Both swivel/dog catches works fine and have good springs. read more
